Our History
The Jackson Group has a long history, one that was formed by Margaret and Tony Jackson in 1976 when the company was a solo consulting practice called A.K. Jackson & Associates, Inc. From A.K. Jackson & Associates, Inc to Jackson & Associates, Inc. to The Jackson Group, Inc. and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Jackson Group Interactive, our name has changed to reflect our growth through the addition of staff and services. Throughout the changes, the quality never waned nor did the commitment to innovation, flexibility and responsiveness.

The Jackson Group, Inc is proud to call the former Harper Motor Company building home. The company purchased the property in 2003 and spent two years renovating the building, moving in June 2005. The Harper Family originally built the two story brick structure in 1928 as a Ford Automotive dealership, which continued at this site until 1970 before it became Armstrong Ford. During the renovation process special care was taken to leave many of the original features of the 1920′s building. Examples of this can be seen in the original pressed tin ceiling and terrazzo floor in the lobby.

A story has been told that the beautiful arched window on the front of the building, flanked by two small port-hole windows, was built to resemble the front of an old Ford car. The “Ford -Harper Motor Company” neon sign, which hung in disarray on the front of the building for years, was taken down and refurbished returning it to its original appearance. Currently the sign hangs in the center of our Information Services work area as a reminder of the rich history of the building.
The building currently holds all divisions of The Jackson Group (consultants, project managers, call center and information services) as well as Jackson Group Interactive (our multimedia full-production firm). The owners and staff of The Jackson Group are proud to be a part of the renewal of this grand old member of the downtown Hickory business community.
